First look at the Byzantine infantry

The first packs will be ready next week, just finishing the command and archers. The photos show some of the 12 different standing figures, they will have a 4 figure command and rear rank archers as an option. Thee are 4 different armour types and a load of different heads/helmets. The figure resting shield on ground is correct, it just needs the basing material to lift the shield into contact with the hand. Steve at LBMS is trying to find time to do transfers for them and we will post any news on that front.

First look at Early Byzantines

We have been working away at the new range, Adam has a lot of bits done and we are approaching the completion of the Heavy Infantry. To keep you all up to date we decided to shown WIP on some of the infantry. The mail aventails etc. still need to be added. Archers for the rear rank nearing completion. We already have the heads and shields completed so just the officers to do.

Galatian Unarmoured Command added

OKay we have finished the Galatian Range by adding an Unarmoured Command GAL06.

Adam is away to start on the Byzantines, loads of preparation work on shields, weapons, horses, and adapting our dollies to be done so give us a few weeks to get that out of the way and then the first figures will start to roll out.

Armoured Galatian Spearmen

Adam brought the next 2 packs for the Galatians over this morning. There are 8 different figures, 4 in mail and 4 in breastplate cuirass. They have different helmets and the mail is in several styles. The photos show the figures with the long spear we will supply, I suggest that it be cut to the desired lenght. The shields will be a mix of the 5 celtic types.

Next up is the last of the Galatian packs, a command for the unarmoured figures. And yes the Byzantines will start asap.

Galatian unarmoured warriors

We have added the 2 packs (GAL02 and GAL03) of unarmoured warriors to the Galatian range under the Successor group. They all have their right hand cast separately on the weapons, 4 swords and 4 spears will be supplied with each pack. The figures are all a bit different and with the multitude of angles that the weapons can be attached, there will be hardly 2 the same in any units.

The packs will be available to buy now but as I have yet to mould the weapons they will not be posted until Monday at the earliest.

Galatian Command Set 1 ready

We decided to add Galatians to the successor range, at first we imagined a 16 figure unit based around the figures in the SUC14 pack. While working on them it soon became evident that there was more to do than just that. Adam has now done an armoured command as shown in the photos, standing armoured warriors, advancing swordsmen that can also be spearmen(separate hands) and is working on the unarmoured command. Once they are all done we see 2 units or even a 3rd if some people want a mix of armoured and unarmoured.

Anyway the point is that when asked I thought they would have been completed a month ago but it turns out that the work involved required making more use of the figures than a simple 16 figure unit.

We also think they could be used for a lot of the Celtic tribes of the period, Northern Italian comes to mind for one and the new shields will certainly help in that direction.
